The rectangular top inset with three wells, one with lid and a central handle, flanked by a dished pen-compartment to each side, above a drawer with small compartment containing a complete red-stained and white ivory chess set, above a removable ebony and satinwood pierced chess board, on floral and foliate bun feet, the stand on conforming and larger bun feet, the chess set incised 'II' to the underside, previously with glass inkpots
