Lot Essay

Only two other examples of this model would appear to be recorded at Capodimonte; one was sold in these Rooms on 7 October 1996, lot 257, and for the other see Angela Caròla-Perrotti, Le Porcellane dei Borbone di Napoli (1986), pp. 180-181, no. 119 where she persuasively suggests that the two component figures are derived from Pietro Longhi's, Il concertino di famiglia and Lezione di geografia, for the lady looks more as though she is singing than posing and the artist is in a didactic attitude.
