The moulded rectangular top above two short and three long drawers, between baluster and reed column-angles, on turned feet, the reverse inscribed in chalk 'FITTINGS OF 153 inside'

Supplied in 1813 to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (1782-1850) for Hackwood.
By descent until sold in 1935 with Hackwood to William Berry, 1st Viscount Camrose (d.1954).

Lot Essay

Only one chest of drawers is described in the Memorandum, a summary of furniture agreed between Gillows and Lord Bolton, but two are included in the actual bill.
A very closely related pattern of chest of drawers is illustrated in Gillows Estimate Sketch Books for March 1821, p. 3129, as supplied to Lord Duncannon.
