Small tear to lower margin of one map, rust-hole in B1.) 19th-century calf gilt (joints slightly split, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Edward Henry Scott (armorial bookplate).

A FINE TALL COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION, extravagantly ruled in red, of Ogilby's famous road book. "This is the first survey of the roads of England and Wales... [the strip road maps] show the main roads only, with the cross-roads indicated. The distances are shown in miles along the roads, and the villages and mansions named, and in some cases the names of the residents are given": Chubb C; Wing O-168.
