Lot Essay

These two drawings are related to two figures in the foreground of de Wit's large painting of Moses striking the Rock, A. Staring, Jacob de Wit, Amsterdam, 1958, fig. 116. The figures, silhouetted and inserted in another context, were probably cut by de Wit from a larger sheet.
