Ewers of this form dating from the Yuan period are extremely rare. Compare the circular ewer with phoenix spout, which was the only piece of blue and white ceramics excavated at the site of the Yuan capital, Beijing, in 1970; it is now in the collection of The Capital Museum, Beijing , illustrated in Gems of Beijing Relics, no.106, and also illustrated in Collection of Masterpieces of Chinese Cultural Relics, Hong Kong, 1993, p.333, no.555.
