The rounded sides enamelled with pairs of phoenix and dragons with flaming pearls amidst flowering branches, below a ruyi band at the rim containing the Eight Buddhist Emblems, the interior with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl amidst flaming scrolls, minute rim chips

Lot Essay

A set of three wucai Kangxi mark and period 'dragon and phoenix' bowls, of three different sizes, were included in Qing Imperial Porcelain of the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong Reigns, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1995, Catalogue no.26, from the Nanjing Museum, Hong Kong, which houses alarge part of the former imperial collection. A pair of similar bowls sold in our New York Rooms, 1 June 1990, lot 290; another pair sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 20 March 1990, lot 623; and yet another pair sold in the same Rooms, 24 October 1993, lot 736.
