Someya Chomin was a Mito School artist of the mid-19th century, working in Edo in the Keio-Meiji periods. His other name was Ikedo Minkoku and he was followed by two other workers of that name.

Signed Someya Chomin on an inlaid gold plaque, Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
The large well-formed branched piece of coral encased in a hinged mount of silver and two colours of gold, the pierced three piece mount formed as a group of three karako and an elephant in procession beneath a pine, one of the karako carries a banner and another is blowing a trumpet, the mount, opening on two hinges, is secured by a split colum with a setero? cap, the carved silver ring forming the himotoshi secured by a screw-in peg with a domed and four sided head
