A 2-page manuscript note inserted at the end of the first work reads: "This celebrated and rare tract ... was wrote [sic] by Don Alfonso de la [?]Turva ... No publication ever gave so much offence to the proud Venetians, who used every means to suppress it ... After many year's search, I procured this copy at Rome, in the year 1765. A. L."
