the raised superstructure with a domed top and moulded edge lifting to reveal a letter rack, with hinged top and pierced fret-carved front, the piano top revealing a forward sliding leather-lined ratcheted writing slope with two short drawers, inkwells and pen slide above
a panelled front with reeded uprights and four drawers to one side opposed by dummy drawers, on a plinth base with castors, stamped Maple & Co. bearing a brass plaque to the top Presented to Mr & Mrs William Bassett by Members of the Committee of the Homes for Working Boys in London, in recognition of their ten years faithful service.
