with spreading foot and widely flaring rim, decorated with a reticulated band of scrolling lotus flowers and leaves, the interior painted with two carp swimming amongst aquatic flowers and leaves, the exterior with Buddhist emblems, flowers and foliage -- 12¼in. (31cm.) wide, iron-red four-character mark reading 'made for the Hall where Virtue reins'.
