A patchwork quilt of printed and plain cottons predominantly in shades of pink, green and cream, the central field with stars interspersed with rectangles forming squares, within a border of rectangles and squares, the outer border with a print of trailing roses, machine quilted to design--86 x 92in. (215 x 230cm.), early 20th century with cottons dating from the second half of the 19th century; and another, the white cotton ground with a central appliqué of hexagon patches, with similar flowerheads scattered across the field, the outer frame of red and white striped cotton, the field quilted with floral sprigs, spirals, horse shoes and other patterns, the remainder quilted to design--92 x 100in.
