the gold mounted reverse crystal intaglio depicting Sam Basden riding Fragoletto over a jump at Auteuil, 1897, the reverse with engraved details of the scene.
Sam Basden rode in France in the last years of the 19th.Century winning 47 races in 1888, 55 in 1889, 43 in 1890 and 91 in 1891. Altogether he rode in more than 4000 events and won 434 steeplechase races.
