Of rectangular form aand with brass line inlay to the borders, with secret compartment to the front, with brass panel to the inside inscribed MECHI & BAZIN MAKERS LONDON, the interior with lift-out compartmented tray and fully fitted with cut-glass silver-mounted bottles and boxes, each engine-turned cover with central monogram and with hallmarks for London 1864/65, some also with stamps for MECHI & BAZIN; other fittings with mother-of-pearl handles and two pairs of scoissors (one replaced)
