The white enamel Roman chapter ring set within a case modelled as a lyre and cast with stiff leaf and anthemion ornament, with Apollo mast cresting flanked by griffin heads, the centre of the dial pierced with stellar and lancerate leaf designs, the lyre flanked by a standing classical female figure holding a volume, with scroll, trumpet and torch mounts to the other side, on rectangular base with relief cast frieze to the front depicting cherubs and a female figure emblematic of the arts, within a border of berried laurel and leafy scroll mounts, the gallery cast with running flower-heads and on bun feet; the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell stamped 637WV on the backplate
