Khosla, title page with decorative gilt border, marbled endpapers, olive green morocco, the front cover titled and with compiler's credit in gilt within elaborate gilt border, publisher's credits in gilt on back cover within a similar border, titled and with compiler's and publisher's credits again on spine, g.e., lge. 4to.; with two copies of a printed leaflet of Opinions loosely inserted.

Lot Essay

An invaluable photographic record of the last phase of Imperial and Princely India, this is probably the last of the great illustrated works on the Indian Empire. This copy is an example of the De-Luxe Special edition which cost twelve times more than the popular edition when first published.
