A PAIR OF SCRIMSHAW WALRUS TUSKS
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
The tusks are engraved on both sides. The first tusk is engraved on the front with 'Walrus', and images of cannons, a ship and an eagle over a series of American flags. On the back, are engraved images of two different types of whales and a whaleboat. The second tusk is engraved on the front with 'Tusks', images of crossed swords, a ship, an eagle with standard & flags, a horse and rider. On the back, are engraved two different types of whales. The tusks are displayed on modern bases, each approximately 13in. (33cm.) (2)
