A JUNYAO SHALLOW DISH
Song Dynasty
With shallow rounded sides rising from a shallow, tapering ring foot, covered inside and out in imitation of ruyao with a milky pale blue glaze suffused with crackle and thinning to a mushroom color on the rim and edge of the foot rim, the similarly glazed base with three spur marks

Lot Essay

The characteristics of the glaze on this dish, ie. the color, the pattern and appearance of the crackle and the illusion of depth are very similar to that of a ru glaze and is more than likely a deliberate attempt at imitation
