The present work, is based on a print after Marten van Heemskerck from the Wonders of the World series recalls his extensive landscapes of the 1560s. (see, for example, Christ at the sea of Tiberias, 1567, in the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Inv. no. 952).
