This is a preparatory drawing for the painting titled Requiem por Salomn, which the artist later executed. Salomn was inspired by the caricature of a boy with an insatiable curosity on political matters, which appeared in the periodical titled Humor y Otros, Revista de Revolucin. Chago, the creator, was quite criticized for the controversial political content of the caricature and the cartoon was suspended from print.

Antonia Eiriz found her pictorial language in the styles prevalent in post-war Europe, and in Expressionism. Her work was focused on the representation of the grotesque in Cuba right after the revolution.
