Circa 1780, gilt interlaced L's marks, painter's marks for Le Guay l'an
With interlaced richly gilt and jewelled ribbons enclosing pendant leaves between gilt bands and white jewelled beaded borders, comprising:
A globular teapot and cover
A gilt-metal mounted hard paste cylindrical chocolate pot and cover, wood handle
Six cups and saucers
A cylindrical sugar bowl and cover
A tripod globular milk jug
A waist bowl (17)

Lot Essay

AEtienne-Henri Le Guay l'an was active primarily as a gilder at Vincennes and Svres 1748-1749 and 1751-1796.

It is likely that the enamelled jewels on the present surface were applied by Joseph Coteau who was employed at Svres for this expertise 1780-1782.
