Engraved title by Pierre Miotte of Burgundy and 38 engraved plates (including 2 engraved tables and one folding plate), (tiny hole in Qqqq2, affecting a few letters and marginal tear in Ddddd2.) Contemporary calf gilt, gilt coat-of-arms of Jacques-Auguste de Thou fils and his first wife, Marie Picardet, on both covers, gilt monogram "IAM" repeated five times on spine. (Upper joint slightly cracked).

Provenance: Gilt coat-of-arms of Jacques-Auguste de Thou fils (d. 1677), son of Jacques-Auguste de Thou, the celebrated 16th-century French bibliophile and his first wife Marie Picardet on both covers.
