18th century, perhaps Italian
The laughing sage seated cross-legged wearing a fluted gilt hat, gilt sash and shoes, on a stepped circular gilt dentil-moulded base, pierced with two holes at the side of the base; together with a Berlin (Wegely) small white prunus-moulded cup and saucer, the cup with scroll handle
