A MEISSEN WARMEGLOCKE FROM THE SWAN SERVICE
Circa 1738, blue crossed swords mark, modelled by J.J. Kndler and J.F. Eberlein for Count Brhl
The platter dome moulded as a shell with swans and water birds amonst bulrushes, against a shell ground and with the coat-of-arms within a rocaille cartouche enriched in colours and gilt, applied with shells and flowers similarly enriched, the gilt bronze handle centering a medallion painted with scattered flower sprays within a gilt surround, the handle a modern replacement

14in. (35.3cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Heinrich Graf von Brhl, Director of the Meissen factory from 1735-63 and his wife Grafin Franziska von Kolowrat-Krakowska whom he married in 1737.
