TWO GERMAN BUSTS OF A TURK
Circa 1760, possibly Kelsterbach
One half-length figure, in a turban, yellow coat and iron-red sash on a square section tapering stepped socle moulded with flowerheads above gadrooned bands, the other Turkish bust similarly modelled and in green jacket and iron-red sash, the undersides of both with five apetures in a symetrical arrangement

Considering the shape and scale of the present examples, they may have originally been conceived chess pieces.
