Wilhelm Kaspar Wegely with the aid of Johann Benckgraff (of Hchst and Frstenberg) and with encouragement from King and Crown started a manufacturer in 1752. Although of high quality, the material lacked fluxing and tended towards the opaque and in turn made firing large pieces difficult. The firm closed is 1757. The uppermost impressed mark is said to indicate the paste and the lower the model number.
