cf. Noel Daum, Daum Matres Verriers 1870-1980, p. 6 for an illustration of an 1894 maquette for the model, which portrays Ren II, duc de Lorraine, the conqueror of Charles the Tmraire. This gouache and Chinese ink work was realized in Daum's 'duc de Lorraine' glass vase.
