The case with stepped pediment to the breakarch top with pineapple finials, with fluted brass columns to the recessed front angles, foliate cast sound frets to the sides, with ripple-moulded banding to the plinth above a foliate cast gallery, on fluted brass-capped toupie feet, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring and matted centre, foliate scroll and shell spandrels, with subsidiary rings to the arch for chime/silent, slow/fast and chime on eight bells/Westminster, quatrefoil-pierced sound fret panel to rear door, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter-chiming on a nest of eight bells or four gongs and with hour strike on further gong, the backplate stamped 1066, with pendulum holdfast
