Three albums containing a total of 235 cartes-de-visite and seven cabinet cards, six hand-tinted, occasional inscriptions in ink/pencil and the majority with photographers' printed credits on mounts, loosely inserted in pre-cut window mounts with gilt borders, a few identified in pencil and with sitters' dates in pencil in a later hand on mounts, one lined in maroon silk with decorative border stamped in gilt inside front and back covers, maroon morocco, applied filigree gilt metal border to both covers, the front cover with central monogram [?MM], filigree gilt metal clasps, marbled edges, 4to., one calf-backed, with metal boards, the front cover with scene in relief of a three-horse cart being driven through a country landscape, highlighted in green, oblong 8vo., the third tan morocco, gilt clasp, g.e., 8vo.; with eight cartes and one cabinet card loosely inserted in the larger album. Lot Essay

The larger album contains portraits of Emperor Napoleon, Empress Eugenie and the Prince Imperial. One of the small albums is devoted to portraits of the Prince Imperial from a child until his early death and includes several in military costume. The third album comprises portraits of Prince Napoleon Bonaparte, cousin of Napoleon III and Princess Clothilde.
