Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) known as 'the Beautiful Duchess of Devonshire', was the daughter of the first Earl Spencer. Her daughter Georgiana (1783-1858) married the 6th Earl of Carlisle in 1801. The original was painted for her mother, Countess Spencer
