Sir Cloudesly Shovel
Two issues of The Post Boy dated 1st October and 1st November 1707 both giving accounts of the discovery of Sir Cloudeslys body and the infamous looting of his ring: "..he was drown'd the 22nd about 8 of the Clock at night, and the next day his Body was found stripp'd in the Sand, by some who fell out about dividing their Booty,.."
