the silvered dial signed and numbered John Poole Maker to the Admiralty, 57 Fenchurch St., London 5246, Gold Medal, Paris, 1867, Roman hour numerals, gold hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds dial inscribed within Prize Medals, London 1862 Paris 1855 and up-and-down dial both with blued steel hands, main-frame assembly carrying reversed fusee barrel and centre wheel, circular sub-frame assembly with chain guard, carrying remainder of the train, Earnshaw escapement, cut bimetallic balance with Poole's auxiliary, cylindrical heat compensation weights, blued steel helical balance spring, now with modern replacement banking block with jewelled locking pallet, brass bowl and gimbal, ebony box lacking top lid with brass quarter-round edging and double brass stringing to front, the middle section with applied bone ivory plaque inscribed adjusted by W F Price, Bristol 5246, recessed brass handles
