A fine radio controlled electric powered radio controlled model [??] of the 41ft. Watson type lifeboat RNLB Edmund and Mary Robinson,
built by N. Howard Pritchard of fibreglass, wood and metal with deck details including masts and rigging, samson posts, deck rails, fore and aft cockpits with interior detailing, engine controls and instruments, helm, windscreen, horn, searchlight, ventilators, lifebelt and many other details. The hull, finished in RNLI livery, is fitted with two electric motors to twin shafts and three-blade propellers, rudder, hand ropes and bow fender and Sanwa Six-Channel radio control -- 24¾ x 45in. Lot Essay

This model is the prototype of a kit developed by the owner/builder and is the first modern model RNLI lifeboat to be sanctioned by that Institution.

Historical Note: The original boat was a reserve boat which took part in the rescue of the coaster Hindlea, 27 October 1959, following which rescue Coxswain Richard Evans was awarded the RNLI Gold Medal, the rest of the crew being awarded Silver or Bronze medals.
