A well detailed 20th-Century bone and horn model of a French thirty-four gun Frigate,
with bound masts, spars with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging, carved female figurehead, hair rails, anchors, cathead, belaying rails, bitts, gratings, caxton, double helm, rope coils, deck guns in carriages, and five ship's boats in chocks and davits, all with bottom boards, thwarts and oars, and other details. The planked and pinned hull has finely decorated bulwarks, transom, and stern gallery detailing, lettered AGOL U S and horn strakes, and is mounted on a wood display stand with decorated balustrading and mounted in a wood-framed glazed case behind a carved figure of a draughtsman holding a ruler and plan. Measurements overall -- 18 x 20½in. (45.7 x 52cm.)
