FIRST EDITION. Lear's subject was the Abruzzi Provinces of the Kingdom of Naples. A "Second Series", on the Papal States, was published in the same year and described as "Volume II" on the title page. The artist's stay in Italy had lasted from 1843-44. Abbey Travel 172; Pine-Coffin 8436.
