A Zand papier mache polychrome lacquer mirror case
of rectangular form with separate cover, decorated with a central portrait cartouche of a lady holding a flowerspray on a ground of trailing foliage and palmettes, the reverse with a further portrait on a fruiting and floral ground, the interior similarly decorated -- 6.7/8in. (17.5cms) x 4¾in. (12cms), inscribed by Muhammed'Ali Ashraf, dated 1159.
Provenance: The Italian Ambassador to Persai, circa 1940 and thence by descent.
