approx. 93 loose, including the following: 8 circular of birds, including nightjars and a snipe - 17cm. diam; 14 of dark skinned figures, in an envelope inscribed in a 19th century hand 'Indian late pictures these are getting rare now' - 10.2 x 7cm.; 9 of occupations each identified below in English including a 'Beastie or waterman' - 13 x 9.2cm.; 12 of methods of transport, each identified below in English including 'Arrival in camp - Papa's tent & camel' - 8.4 x 12cm.; 12 of musicians and flag bearers - 11.1 x 7.7cm.; 11 of various figures - largest 15.7 x 11.6cm.; 15 of various methods of transport - largest 21.1 x 16.4cm.; 12 others mounted; and two albums, containing further similar pictures, one with blue boards - 14.4 x 18.4cm. and the other with red morocco binding - 26.3 x 21cm.(a lot)

This group demonstrates both the prolific and varied output of the 19th century Indian artists and the enthusiasm of British collectors of the time. The larger album was previously sold at Sotheby's 7 June 1989, lot 52.
