A Meissen outside decorated group of Phoebus Apollo in the Chariot of the Sun
after J.J. Kaendler, in sections, the young God in puce drapes, a winged putto at his feet, his chariot is drawn by four rearing white horses with 'jewelled' harnesses, the God radiating shafts of light piercing the swirling clouds, on a lobed flat-backed base moulded with a gadronned section above a band of flowerheads and swags of leaves and berries, incised No 3., Pressnummern 81, blue crossed swords marks, one with a cancellation mark, circa 1880 (restoration and replacement) -- 42.5cm. wide
