AN ATTRACTIVE ROCOCO STYLE JEWELLED HARDSTONE AND VARI-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX
PROBABLY GERMAN, WITH THREE INDISTINCT AND TWO LATER FRENCH CONTROL MARKS

Rectangular box, the cover, sides and base set with bloodstone panels mounted in a three-colour gold cagework chased with stylized acanthus, laurel garlands entwined with crossed ribbons, rosettes and scrolls, the cover and side heliotrope panels applied with military and musical trophies studded with diamonds, emeralds, topazes, sapphires and rubies, the raised thumbpiece applied with a central oval emerald surrounded by further stones
