Flattened oval silver box, the hinged cover inset with a dark tortoiseshell plaque decorated with foliate scrolling surrounding a vase of flowers, in silver piqué posé, opening to reveal two oval oil on copper miniatures representing, on the left side, a young Lady in gold-embroidered blue dress with lace underslip, and on the right side, a Gentleman in silvered armour, with curling brown full-bottom wig, with plain silver base and sides with scrolling thumbpiece
