Slightly tapering rectangular étui-à-tablettes with rounded top, all sides set with enamel panels decorated with vertical stripes painted with garlands of flowers on a pastel blue ground alternating with yellow bands of trailing foliage, both sides of the cover applied with rose-cut diamond set silver inscription Souvenir d'amitié, the obverse of the base inset with an oval enamel miniature depicting a young Lady with blue ribbon and flowers in her powdered hair, the reverse of the base centred by a glazed oval medallion containing foliate gold initials on a blue silk ground, both framed with chased two-colour gold mounts, the gold cagework mounts chased with flowers and scrolling foliage; tablets, pencil and pushpiece missing
