A Scottish gold-mounted hardstone Double Snuff-Box
circa 1750
Slightly flattened barrel-shaped boîte-à-deux-tabacs of dark grey agate, the bulging sides engraved with vertical reeding and adorned with two horizontal reeded gold mounts to simulate a barrel, both upper and lower ends with compartments for tobacco covered by gold-mounted hinged lids, the slightly raised thumbpieces engraved with foliate scrolls
72 mm. (2 7/8 in.) high
