Lot Essay

Although the iconography of the present tapestry is difficult to explain precisely, it seems clear that the female figure to the right of God the Father is 'marrying' the figure of Christ. It may therefore have been commissioned to mark the entrance of a young woman of good family into the Church as a nun.
