AN IRISH GEORGE I WALNUT WING ARMCHAIR
The rounded rectangular padded back, sides, outscrolled arms and seat cushion covered in associated early 18th Century petit-point wool needlework with two horses, an elephant, a camel, a goat, two lions and three cows in a wooded landscape, with close-nailed seat-rail, the reverse and sides covered in light-green material, on cabriole legs each headed by a scallop shell and flanked by scrolled ears, on trifid pad feet, inscribed in white chalk '5985', and in ink '54', one back leg partially replaced and with restored break, the other back foot chipped, restorations to the needlework
