The circular radiating veneered tilt-top above a plain frieze with beaded edge, on an octagonal spreading support with upspringing foliage above a spirally-gadrooned band and further foliage, on a concave-sided quadripartite plinth and scrolled foliage feet with brass castors, possibly later gilded
28½ in. (72.5 cm.) high; 51½ in. (130.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The table's foliage-wrapped pillar has a hollow-sided 'altar' plinth and involuted truss feet that correspond to that of a card-table pattern illustrated in George Smith's The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1826 (pl. XXXV).
