Rectangular, the cover with a relief plaque of the Judgement of Solomon, the base and sides with engine-turned panels, all within borders of foliage, the thumbpiece also chased with foliage, the interior of the cover engraved with a presentation inscription, marked inside base

The inscription reads:
This Box was presented to John Crowder Esqr. Alderman and late Sheriff of the City of London & County of Middlesex by his associated Brethren the Sons of Industry in testimony of the high sense they entertain of his Social Virtues private worth and Public Services February 21st 1827
