Lot Essay

'Where is heaven? The quest to answer this obscure and indefinite question, lead me on to paint this image. The Gateway depicted can either be interpreted as an entrance to or as an exit from heaven. The position of man is just as unclear as the concept itself, is he in a euphoric state whilst entering or in an endless sadness while leaving ? This painting is a narrative of the indefiniteness of heaven and the ambiguity of the fall and ascension.'
(Shantia Zakerameli, August 2012)
