Lot Essay

The realm of the spiritual always intrigues the Jakarta-born artist, ?Tommy Tanggara. His body of works invite the viewers to contemplate and delve deep into their souls. Purple Heart (Lot 361), with its simple elegant finishing might deceive the viewers but the reflective surface of the heart asserts an important question to the viewer. The heart itself symbolises compassion and love, and the artist is trying to ask the viewers whether they have genuine compassion and love towards people whom we might not know, our friends, our family and most importantly, ourselves. The purple hue invites a reflective ambience and draws in viewers to contemplate even deeper. Purple Heart becomes a good reminder for all of us in our daily lives as we are constantly reminded to be genuine and sincere in the tumultuous contemporary world.
