Provenance
Commissioned from the artist by Dirck van Lennep (1693-1755), Amsterdam, in 1729 for Fl. 1,500, and installed in 1730 in his house on Herengracht (current number 476), until circa 1800, when the painting was replaced by a stucco decoration.
(Possibly) Herengracht 474, Amsterdam, circa 1800-1900.Private collection, New York, by circa 1900, and by descent until circa 2002-2004.
Acquired by the present owner in 2006.
