20 LIONS – MADE by WORKS

EVENT DATE: 14-22 Septmeber 2013

To celebrate Christie's history of showcasing and selling extraordinary art, the WORKS collective will present a special window installation at Christie’s South Kensington during London Design Festival 2013.

WORKS is a collective of recent Royal College of Art graduates, formed in 2012. The installation of 20 LIONS – MADE by WORKS embodies the group’s philosophy of individuality and equality.

Each member will create a preparatory sketch and a sculpture of a lion in their chosen medium – resulting in a series of highly unique, yet cohesive objects. Each Lion shares pride of place in the installation.

As part of the exhibition, WORKS will organize an auction for the objects, with the biding taking place during the festival. Playing on the notion of a ‘silent auction’, the creations will be anonymous until purchased - a signature from the artist will appear on the underside of the plinth and on the back of the sketch.

The original preparatory sketches for the 20 Lions can be viewed on at The Clerkenwell Gallery and also online at www.madebyworks.com.
